Progress

Slow change is the hardest form of change to perceive. We've all experienced one of our relatives we haven't seen in a few years declaring that they can't believe how much we've grown. Its also usually pretty hard to perceive the growth of a tree or plant that we see every day in our own garden. Likewise, most of us who write about men's issues often fail to see the real progress that has been made in the last few years for men. Its way to easy to get pessimistic and only see all the bad stuff that is happening. Its worthwhile to pause and reflect on some of the progress that has been made.

Here are the top 10 areas in which we have advanced even in the last 3 years:

1. The issue of father's rights has been very well publicized. Thanks to groups like 'Fathers 4 Justice', and to all their stunts, much has been written about father's rights in the press. Virtually everyone is now aware of the problem, and, even if not everyone is on the side of father's rights, the issue is now into the public's awareness.

2. The issue of boy's being failed by the schools and the feminisation of the education system has now received a lot of media attention.

3. Political correctness is now routinely attacked, and politically correct viewpoints are now way easier to express than they were even a few years ago.

4. Feminists are now more often heard on the defensive than on the attack.

5. The tide of public opinion is turning against abortion. People are becoming increasingly uncomfortable at the large numbers of abortions and the flippant reasons for them being carried out.

6. The public are increasingly suspicious of claims of rape, and are questioning the way that promiscuous women fail to act sensibly, and of the way that the definition of rape has been ludicrously expanded to include any act of love-making in which the woman changes her mind...even after the event!

7. There are now MANY more men's issues websites, writers, forum-posters and readers.

8. Women are becoming increasingly ambivalent about careers, and waking up to the fact that careers aren't the paradise they thought they were.

9. The trend - which probably peaked in the 1990s - of women trying to view men as sex objects - has almost totally fizzled out. For instance, the fashion for male strippers has, to a large extent, died out amongst women. So much so that probably more women go to see OTHER WOMEN strip than go to see men!

10. The public are more suspicious of the claims of the 'authorities' - the governments, the academics etc - than ever. Meaning that the power of feminists in universities and government is declining in relation to the 'people power' of men themselves, talking to eachother and writing online.

(Please keep any comments below constructive. I'm sure you can think of plenty of 'yes buts..!' to add in, but this post is for positive, constructive views!)

All good points. It is interesting that many women (indeed the majority) now view the Feminist career utopia myth as just that... a myth. Women now look back to their mother's and grandmother's generation with envious eyes. Most would prefer not to have to spend time at work and go back to the traditional family role. Feminism has been one big con, it has conned women, it has conned men and it has conned governments. The Feminist tricksters are now revealed for what they are...liars and cheats.

I wouldn't give women any credit. Feminism was started by men, run by men, with these women as figure heads.

Most of these women couldn't drive a 5 speed into a brick wall, let alone lead a movement.

For those of us that have realized the damage being done and been involved with this for many years,
it is good to reconize some "lemonaide" with all those lemons.

Simply, one needs to evaluate along the way and know we didn't get here overnight. It won't be cured overnight.

As someone said: "Everything counts".

As I have written, once men change, the women and governments won't have any choice but to change.

Think more about the destruction of cultures, societies and empires when the men brought a society to a point where not only the women but the men started believing women could "do it all" and do anything men could do.

We used to honor women by reconizing their attitudes were that of women. "Well you have to understand, she's a woman" and go on with what men do. Now, we are dealing with laws and governments that think there is a benefit to instead forcing everyone to participate in the imagined world of female thinking.

Thank you Darrin for yours and all the others doing the right thing.
