It doesn't always have to be like this though. I've seen more than a few women who've aged gracefully. Mostly it has to do with being comfortable with the knowledge that they aren't twentysomethings any more.; 5:50 am

When I was a little younger, I used to judge women on their appearances, getting serious "oneitis" without really knowing who the girl was as a person.

After growing up a bit, and dating some women who were beautiful in appearance but messed up inside, I've learned to appreciate women more as a complete and complex creatures.

Now, when friends tell me about how physically attractive a girl is (and then put those women on a pedastal as a resutl), I challenge my friends to ask women "what else have you got?". Good looks will fade (but kind and feminine women usually age well because the person she is will show more with age), but who the woman is and the values she holds will remain.

A lot of these "celebrities" are often really messed up and used up people (though I'm sure some are "nice") and when their youthful looks start to fade, there is little softness or kindness left in their eyes or faces.

Cosmopolitan (The women's magazine that urges women to use men for sex) Editor Lorraine Candy has a change of mind and now urges women not to have "Soul-less sex":

70s feminist Fay Weldon now says:
