Space

In my opinion, the reason that SETI hasn’t yet succeeded is simple: we’ve just begun to look.

An experimental inflatable spacecraft bankrolled by a real estate magnate rocketed into orbit Wednesday to test technology that could be used to fulfill his dream of building a commercial space station.

There exists a globe of knowledge via SETI:

All we know from SETI is that there are no civilizations who use noise for communication and are roughly our technological equivalents within a dozen light years of us. Plus, there are no advanced civilizations who use(d) noise for communication within a half-light century of us. That is not a lot of knowledge.
