Thought of the moment

Conventional wisdom (as Peter Hitchens has pointed out) is almost always wrong on everything. Why? When you think about it, conventional wisdom is the wisdom of the masses on a particular subject that they are not experts in, and probably not particularly interested in (at least not interested enough to study it in any depth). Therefore this makes them vulnerable targets to our huge public relations, media and lobbying industries, where people who DO care what the public think can then spend millions to sway the lazy and unthinking 'conventional wisdom'.
