I really can't emphasise enough how much it would empower you to set up your own website or blog. You can set up a blog on www.Blogger.com for free in about 5 minutes. The best time to get started is right now. Within a few years, so many people will be waking up to this and getting their own sites across the West AND the rest of the world that it will get harder to set up a website and get traffic to it. It will be a 'winner takes most' situation where a small proportion of the blogs get the vast amount of the traffic while the vast majority will get hardly any.

So, why not grab your own peice of real estate on the Web now. I guarentee you that if you don't, within a few years you will be kicking yourself that you didn't.
