Women-only businesses in Japan: Once women-only carriages became standard on many Japan Railways services and the Tokyo Metro, other businesses quickly followed. Spas and gyms were among the first to pick up the trend, with restaurants, comic-book cafés and convenience stores joining the no-men-allowed movement. Hotels, apartment blocks and pachinko gambling parlours are experimenting, and restaurants that do not exclude men have taken to giving free desserts to women.

This should start to really anger many Japanese men and start to build up a sense of shared interested amongst them. In other words: supporting the creation of a Japanese men's movement.

Germaine Greer on bastardy: THE GOVERNMENT has been preoccupied with teenage pregnancy ever since it took power. Illegitimacy was identified as one of the causes of crime and Labour was going to be tough on it. In 1999 the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy was announced and a flotilla of task forces set about the Sisyphean task of stopping teenagers having unprotected sex.

Greer actually makes *some* good points in that article.

  1. I am assuming that the Greer comment was a "nod, wink" type of comment, as I will happily go to my grave not giving that male-hating bitch any credence whatsoever.
